BM Debate

I just realised I never really blogged about our defeat in the BM debate.
Well, FYI, Kani, Zaty, Afiq and me, we represented school for BM Debate.
It was fun experience I shall say (after not being selected for English debate which sucked a lil bit. We really want to kick Convent's Bitches' Asses).

Recap on Our Debate Rounds :

1st Round - STAR Vs. Sri Istana.
-We got a walk over because Sri Istana pulled out. Afiq said they're too intimidated by the name STAR alone. Which is a good thing because we did not prepare anything at all eventho' it's 2 days before the debate. God was on our side. And trust me, the motion is like SERIOUSLY BORING!

2nd Round - STAR Vs. Sekolah Bukit Kuda (if I'm not mistaken. Not sure la, forgot edi)
- Was held in Sri Istana. The school is not bad after all. They have this shady place which has humongous tree giving shade to it. Our school doesn't have such spot.Anyway, we prepared for the wrong motion and knew about it half an hour before the quarantine session. Weee....
It seemed that the motion for the first round (which we did not prepare) was the motion for the second round. Kani, Afiq and me went and talk without any script. Just some weird scribblings of points. Amazing how I could managed speaking off-hand and won the debate. I mean, our school won that round. Kani got the best speaker.

3rd Round - STAR Vs. Sekolah Kapar (if I got the name right)
- This one, we also got the wrong motion. We have to alter here and there, halfway through the quarantine session. It was held the same day as the second round, in the evening. The school's teacher of Sekolah Kapar hates us SO MUCH! Because we kicked their asses twice. This year and last year. Man, all of them are girls and they're PMS-ing.
The second speaker was the worst. She got all angry and started raising her voice just because Afiq was P.O.I -ing her. We kicked their asses! Lol!

4th Round - STAR Vs. High School
- Scary gila! That school is like damn good. This round was held in High School hall. We thought we almost got the motion wrong (again) after this one stupid short judge barged into pur quarantine room being all PMS-sy (he's a guy btw). But it ended up that he barged into the wrong room. Lol! I mean, it was seriously FUNNY! He came in and asked in angry tone..." Ni sekolah MGS ke?" when clearly Afiq and Kani were rehearsing their speeches right in front of him.
Anyway, we lost to High School thanks to the same short stupid judge.
A case of bias. It seems that the High School teacher and this same judge, who happened to be this round chief judge, are good friends.
So you go figure.

But it was fun! I was the only girl on stage. The speaker, the timekeeper, card flashers, the audio people, the speakers of both team, are guys beside me.
And obviously I used that priviledge to our own good.

I disturbed their concentration when the High School debaters were speaking.
The fun part about all-girls or all-boys school is that, they're too intimidated when the opposite sex look at them. Which is what I did.
The first speaker was trying to intimidate us by looking at us and confidently speaking. First two minutes, I got to disturb his concentration. After that, the plan failed. He only looked at the audience and did not look my way.
Second speaker (who reminds me of somebody) was too nervous and with the help of me staring (cutely, mind you!), the whole 8 minutes was filled with the 'uh' and 'urm' every 15 secs.
Third speaker, I have a good feeling he's a player. He has no problem with girls staring at him.
Which is a plus for them and a minus for us.

But oh well, we're not angry with High School. We're angry with the damn short judge.
Whatever la!

Anyway to preoccupy ourselves while waiting for the final, Zaty and I managed to utilise Ariff's phone to the maximum by taking pictures.

But anyway, the final round was MGS agains High School.
We did not pay attention half of the time, was too busy laughing and...laughing.
Man, it's way more fun (and effective) to disturb people's confidence as audience rather than opponents.
The High School debaters were like 'uh' and 'urm' way too often, and when they do that, our school debaters (and apprentices) go all "Hah..hah...lupa lupa" which seriously worked!

Btw, salute to the MGS, they deserved it. The first speaker was DAMN good she did not use mic first half of her speech. Remember we're doing it in the hall, and we could still hear her very clearly.
Nevermind, this year's defeat shall be taken as experience and improvement for next year.

The High School Hall

Front Line : Izzatie, Khadijah and Athirah.
Back line : Lina

Front Line : Zaty and Me (again!)
Back line : Saw that Chinese girl? She's the non-bumi that is going to replace Kani for debate as the one and only non-bumi in our debate team. She's Choy May.
We call her 'Adik Gan'.

Us...Again. No Arguments!
Caption : We think deep don't we?

See? Didn't I tell you we utilise the camera phone to the maximum?
Oh sadly, the boys are not in. They were too scared and pretended they came from the other school when we camwhored. Oh well!

Quotes from the debate team :

Kani - "Kita kasi pukul sama buntut mereka" (however, he fancied the word 'buntut' throughout the whole debate period)
Zaty - "Babe, I mengantuk la!" (this girl is like sleepy all the time)
Afiq - *silence* (he doesn't talk much)
Athirah - "Mana ada!" (we relate her to the first speaker of High School. They're in the same asrama)
Khadi - " I mean, eh tak, maksud saya...." (I would start my sentences in English. And I forgot a lot of BM words)
Choy May - " Abang Kani!" (She's 'Adik Gan' and Kani is 'Abang Kani. They have malay-nified themselves!)

P.S : Too lazy to colour the fonts!

Signing Out,
Hate the short below average perverted bias and egoistic judge!
