A True Blue Malaysian

~Proud To Be A Malaysian~

It is now officially 31th of August 2007.
50 years after our Independence Day.

Despite it being our 50th year of Independence,
I am stuck at home,
and spending my Merdeka eve in front of the computer.

Inspite of spending the 50th year of Merdeka in the most un-patriotic way,
And made a claim to friends at school that I'd be spending my Merdeka day on my bed,
sleeping,
I took the trouble to blog about Malaysia.

I did watched the countdown of Merdeka just now.
I did not feel patriotic the whole night, except for the last few moments before the
'laungan merdeka'.
Call me insane, but it's really touching to see our country surviving 50 years independetly.

And although I did complain about protesting to be Malay,
I am now proud to say that I love being Malaysian.

I came across this article in the newspaper today.
The author was talking about how we have our very own language.
I did blogged about 'rojak' language before.
And that became our language.
Which country do you go to that has bahasa rojak?
None right?

And the best part of being a Malaysian is,
you have a lot of reasons to be Malaysian.

Reasons Why Being A True Blue Malaysian is Cool :
  1. Because you are born in Malaysia. If you think being a Malaysian is not cool, why stay here? Go request for other 'kewarganegaraan'
  2. Because of the superduperfragilistically nice and wicked food.
  3. Because of Nasi Lemak and Roti Pisang.
  4. Because of pisang. Ei, hello! Where do you think McD get the idea of banana pie if not from our country's pokok pisang dan pisangnya. Kat Amerika dia orang ada makan jemput pisang ke?
  5. Because of 'lah' and 'dey'. Seriously, you don't see any other country with population calling each other "dey" and "macha" or "oi" without getting offended. Here, you call people 'sudu' also they take as friendly gestures. And you can end your sentence be it in any language with 'lah' and 'dey'. I think they should memartabatkan 2 perkataan tersebut.
  6. Because chinese, Indian and Malay can sit in one table, mengumpat tanpa perlu risau pasal rusuhan kaum.
  7. Because kita ada toilet yang lawa pastu automatic kat KL untuk harga 20 sen je. Siapa dah pergi? Best tak pelaburan kat sana?
  8. Because kita ada AirAsia yang teramat murah gila! Mana ada flight murah kat overseas?
  9. Because kita ada Siti Nurhaliza dan Anuar Zain. That's why.
  10. Because we Malaysians are very friendly and open. We can smile and show middle finger tanpa segan silu pada orang lain, meskipun kita tak kenal orang tu.
  11. Because you can be cool in a hot climate like Malaysia. How cool is that?
  12. Because you can wear trench coat ke, baju sejuk ke, singlet ke, suka hati. Kita orang Malaysia kan? Mana ada fall, spring, summer ngan autumn. Nak pakai apa, pakailah.
  13. Because kita ada Mega Sale and End-Year-Sale (YES). Kat Afrika mana ada sale camni?
  14. Because kita ada paling banyak mega mall. Kat Klang je nak dekat 10.
  15. Because Malay, Chinese and Indian can hang out together without feeling awkward that people will pandang semacam.
  16. Because we can speak more than 2 languages. Even though the languages you learnt, you are able to curse in that language. Tau la juga daripada tak tahu langsung.
  17. Because Khadijah is a Malaysian. I am cool . I am a Malaysian. So, how uncool is that?
  18. Because you can have people from other races as your best friend or husband.
  19. Because we can hang out regardless of the race, religion or belief.
  20. Because there is JJ & Rudy. 'Nuff said.
LOL. That was really random.
All I was saying was that,
Even though our 'perpaduan' is not as strong as Tunku's time,
Or our patriotic spirit is not as amazing as Tunku's time,
But we do love Malaysia.

If we do not,
Would there be an overflowing number of people at Dataran Merdeka
celebrating Merdeka?

So, love you Malaysia.
Happy Independence Day everyone.
Remember,
We are Malaysians.
Not MIC.
(Malay, Indian, Chinese)

See?
We are Malaysians.
We look beyong colours, religions and beliefs.
Because we are one.

Signing Out,
Patriotically Khadi.
